Percy Jackson vs. The Wolfman

Screw you, Winter.

So there are 2 really fun looking films and a film that a bunch of men will be dragged out to see with their honeys opening this weekend. I've got a holiday off on Monday so I'm hoping to get my butt out to the warm theater and for sure see one of them (hint... not the chick flick) so let's have a looksee shall we?

Valentine's Day

The Plot: Intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles break-up and make-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentine's Day.
My Thoughts: Wow. A film about people breaking-up and making-up. Sounds thrilling. Despite the solid cast that includes Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx and Anne Hathaway, I'd still rather gouge my eyes out with a fork than sit through this pukefest. I don't want real life relationship issues, why the hell would I want to pay to watch other peoples? Also, it's from the people who brought us Pretty Woman. You know that one right? About the whore for hire who landed the rich guy who liked prostitutes? Which is illegal? Yet it's a love story? And she was disease free and all? Yeah, that one.

The Wolfman

The Plot: Nobleman Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro) returns to his ancestral homeland, where his brother has gone missing and villagers are being killed by a nightmarish beast. The search reunites him with his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins) and draws him near to his brother's fiancée (Emily Blunt), however, Talbot's lager concern is the discovery of a side to himself which he never could have imagined existed...
My Thoughts: Now this is how you celebrate Valentine's Day with your woman (which also could explain why I'm single). When this was announced a few years ago (it seems) I groaned and rolled my eyes. As I've been following it through production I must say it looks like they've done it right and it's going to be really fun. The best news... rated R for bloody horror violence and gore. Sold. Hell I haven't even seen it yet and I'm already excited about watching the blu-ray version on Halloween this year during my monster film festival.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

The Plot: Life changes in an instant for troubled 12-year-old Percy Jackson when he learns his birth father is the god Poseidon and he's looped in on a cross-country mission to settle a feud between his dad, Zeus, and Hades.
My Thoughts: I haven't read any of the books in Rick Riordan's series but Harry Potter has almost run it's course and there needs to be a successor. Will this be it? I don't know, but the trailer sure looks fun. I'm sure the Baptists won't be any more thrilled with it though.
