Soundgarden Recruits Pepper Keenan (AntiQuiet.com)

Soundgarden Recruits Pepper Keenan For ‘Gun’:

As the anticipation for new material from Soundgarden continues to rise, the band recently played their last concert of 2011 at New Orleans’ Voodoo Music Experience festival. One of the highlights of the concert occurred when they were joined by guitarist Pepper Keenan – frontman for Corrosion of Conformity and six stringer for Down.

Keenan (who lives in New Orleans) helped in adding some weight to the already ridiculously heavy Gun. Watch it below:

Soundgarden’s first album in 15 years will reportedly be out next spring, and the band will tour Australia in early 2012. As for Down, the band plans start releasing a series of EPs sometime next year, and we’ll be catching the band on their South American tour next month.

The Innkeepers Trailer Is Here

From Writer-director Ti West (director of The House of the Devil) comes a new horror offering, The Innkeepers. Not sure of an exact release date yet, but should be sometime in 2012 I'd guess.

The Innkeepers stars Sara Paxton (Shark Night 3D, The Last House on the Left) as Claire and Pat Healy (The Assassination of Jesse James) as Luke, a pair of co-workers at an aging New England hotel. The Innkeepers has received terrific reviews since its debut at the SXSW Festival and this trailer seems to have a pretty creepy atmosphere and a few jump-scares. Check it out below:

Synopsis: "After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees -Claire and Luke - are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England's most haunted hotels. As the Inn's final days draw near, odd guests check in as the pair of minimum wage "ghost hunters" begin to experience strange and alarming events that may ultimately cause them to be mere footnotes in the hotel's long unexplained history."

This Is Halloween

I saved the best Halloween music video for last. As a huge fan of Tim Burton's film The Nightmare Before Christmas and a big fan of Marilyn Manson, this is just a killer combo. The song is out on CD now called Nightmare Revisited (with Korn and other bands doing songs from the movie) and it's also available for download from iTunes.

Marilyn Manson's "This Is Halloween":

Movie Review: Wrong Turn 4

Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings

Synopsis: Follows a group of friends that decide to go snowmobiling during their winter break. They make a "wrong turn", getting lost in a storm, and seek shelter in an abandoned sanatorium. Of course, the sanatorium has a troubled past, and some of it's former patients still reside there and are not happy about the intrusion.

The first 3 Wrong Turn movies are pretty much known for brutality and gore, but somehow this one still seems to up the ante. In the first 15 minutes alone there are several brutal kills, one guy gets all his limbs torn off and there's not 1 but 2 sex scenes with 4 naked people total (and 3 of them are women... do the math). So yeah, this ones pretty wild.

Same old formula... take a bunch of annoying, sexy 20-somethings, make sure none can act, give them some bad dialogue, have them behave moronically in the face of danger... presto. Your heroes. For the bad guys toss in a bunch of in-bred, cannibalistic hillbillies with poor dental hygene and bad vocabulary skills. Mix these 2 groups together in a remote setting, let's say an old sanatorium for instance, and don't forget... no cell service. Lots of violent kills, some torture, grisly gore a bit of human fondue, decapitations, severed limbs galore... this one is brutal. Even more brutal than the first 3.

The location is pretty cool, but they never really use it. There's a lot of running around, chasing and being chased. Some of the kills are pretty fun and creative, some seem a bit sick just for the reason of being sick. It's all pretty mindless. I will say that once it finally really gets going at about the 50 minute mark, the last 40 or so minutes are pretty adrenaline filled.

It's not just completely awful for what it is and it's not particularly good. In other words it's about what I expected... another in the Wrong Turn series.

Heavy Halloween Tunes

Yeah, I know all the standard tunes for Halloween as I'm a man who used to have a party every year and of course there were music mixes to set the tone. I always go with the usual suspects... like Monster Mash by Boris Pickett and A Nightmare on My Street by Fresh Prince, then there's The Witch Doctor by Dave Seville, Adam's Family Theme Song, Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon, Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr, Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo, Michael Jackson's Thriller, Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell, Black Magic Woman by Santana, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells Pt. 1 (Theme From 'The Exorcist... and the list goes on.

But what if you want your Halloween party to be a bit... heavier? Say something with a bit more "bite" to it? Well, this year's mix from me will do just that. Here's my 50 songs to make any good werewolf bark at the moon while he's banging his head.

Halloween Video Of The Day

Back in the day, not a Halloween went by that we didn't see this video plastered all over MTV early and often. Remember those days, when MTV played videos? Anyway though, it's still an awesome video and song for the holiday. It's by German power metal/heavy metal band Helloween and the song is called "Halloween." Check out the Pumpkin Man guy. I think he was supposed to be creepy, and maybe he was, but now he makes me laugh. Hail the Pumpkin Man! And I don't know what the hell is going on but it's some sort of freaky costume dance party in the middle of the woods or something that's breaking out here. Looks fun.

Here's you some lyrics to follow along at home:

Someones sitting in a field,
Never giving yield
Sitting there with gleaming eyes,
Waiting for big pumpkin to arise
Bad luck if you get a stone,
Like the good old Charlie Brown
You think Linus could be right
The kids will say its just a stupid lie
But watch out. . .beware - listen. . .take care.

Awesome!!!

And for the record, on the next album these guys put out in 1988 had the song "I Want Out" on it, which is still one of my favorite songs from the entire decade.

UFC 137 Vids

Wow, I really feel like I'm ignoring my beloved UFC lately. I swear I'm not though! It's just my Cardinals got them another World Series last night and since about mid-September it's been a roller coaster of a ride with that team. Man, what a post season! Best I can remember.

But the UFC goes on. One of the reasons I guess I'm not too excited is because tonight was supposed to be GSP vs Diaz but that got all changed up then GSP vs Condit then GSP off the card altogether and now it's a good card, but not a great one. Let's have a looksee...

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

Nick Diaz vs. B.J. Penn
Cheick Kongo vs. Matt Mitrione
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Roy Nelson
Hatsu Hioki vs. George Roop
Jeff Curran vs. Scott Jorgensen

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

Donald Cerrone vs. Dennis Siver
Tyson Griffin vs. Bart Palaszewski

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)

Eliot Marshall vs. Brandon Vera
Danny Downes vs. Ramsey Nijem
Chris Camozzi vs. Francis Carmont
Dustin Jacoby vs. Clifford Starks

Good? Yes. Great? No. But you never know. Might be a great night of fights. Sadly I won't be watching it as I'll be out celebrating the Cards' win, Halloween and my (hopeful) completion of a half-marathon later this morning. It shall be a memorable, forgetful evening. But here's some preview vids just for you anyway:

http://fightnetwork.com/ - Fight Network (@FightNet) previews UFC 137 featuring B.J. Penn vs. Nick Diaz, Cheick Kongo vs. Matt Mitrione, Cro Cop vs. Roy Nelson, Scott Jorgensen vs. Jeff Curran and Hatsu Hioki vs. George Roop taking place on Oct. 29, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Van Helsing's Curse

If you're looking for some cool, creepy music for a Halloween party or just in general, look no further than Van Helsing's Curse. It's the brainchild of Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) and it's a mix of famous music with dark overtones and an occasional part of a storytelling to accompanying the music. Think of it as Trans-Siberian Orchestra for Halloween. I've got their CD and it's excellent. I play it often every year.

Here's a trailer for them and then a live performance of Mike Oldfield's awesome song from The Exorcist, Tubular Bells, the Van Helsing's Curse way, called Tubular Hell.

Rival Sons Are All Over The Road

Here's a fun new video from blues-rockers Rival Sons for the track "All Over The Road".

And I love this bit... frontman Jay Buchanan commented: "Just like in the last video, there was no green screen used for this one. We actually did drive a Cadillac through outer space with a bunch of hot, naked chicks in the backseat. I haven't seen a final edit yet because they're trying to lower it to at least an 'R' rating. We'll see if that actually happens."

"All Over the Road" is taken from their new album, "Pressure And Time", which is out now and on iTunes it has two exclusive bonus tracks.

Still More Halloween Crap

Sure I've got more Halloween pics from around the net! How about some more jack-o-lanterns, a pumpkin birth, Bert and Ernie-o-lanterns and even a KISS kitty? Should hold you over for a few days. If not click the "Halloween" label after the post.

Megadeth Rock HDNet

I only wish I got HDNet on Comcast, but no such luck. If I did, apparently I'd see a pretty cool show this Sunday as Megadeth performs. Here's a clip as they rock their track "Symphony of Destruction," which is probably still my favorite song by them they've ever done. There's some other stuff like interviews and such that I posted underneath it. Somebody let me know if they get to watch this I guess. Bastards.

Watch the full concert Sunday at 11:40pm ET, only on HDNet.

Tim Burton's Vincent

This is Vincent, a 1982 stop-motion short film written, designed and directed by Tim Burton and Rick Heinrichs. It's narrated by actor Vincent Price, a life-long idol and inspiration for Tim Burton.

Vincent is the story of a young boy, Vincent Malloy, who pretends to be like the actor Vincent Price. He is obsessed with the tales of Edgar Allan Poe, and it is his detachment from reality when reading them that leads to his delusions that he is in fact a tortured artist, deprived of the woman he loves, mirroring certain parts of Poe's "The Raven".

This is sinister beauty at it's best. Tim Burton is a genius.

Now THIS Is A Lightshow

I love Halloween but I feel like a total loser for just putting up a few ghosts and a big inflatable grim reaper and some misc. stuff... as soon as I saw this unreal light show a dude did at this home to the song "This Is Halloween" from one of my favorite all-time movies The Nightmare Before Christmas. Check this out.

From the user: 2011 Halloween Light Show -- This Is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas. 4 singing pumpkin faces, tombstones, hand carved pumpkins, strobes, floods and thousands of lights. Most all lights have been changed from incandescent to RGB LED so power consumption is a lot less than previous years. Also DMX added to show. All lights, faces and props are custom made (DIY) by me except for the roof line which are CCRs. Controlling channels have gone up 8X from last year. 1144 channels. Light-O-Rama. Riverside, CA

More Halloween Stuff

Check the "Halloween" tag below for lot of comics and cool pumpkins and odd costumes and related music videos, but here's another post of just a bunch of goofy Halloween stuff. A baby in a Mr T. costume? Done. Human Centipede Jack-O-Lanterns? Got it. Baby dressed like Ewok? You betcha! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle O Lanterns? All here! Just scroll down already.
