Long Live Rock 'n Roll

Yes, I'm bummed about Ronnie James Dio's passing yesterday. The dude was part of my soundtrack of life since 1980 when I bought Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell album. I went to my iPod to put together a quick CD to remind me of his greatness and had plenty of tracks to choose from as between his days in Rainbow, Sabbath, Heaven and Hell (the band) and Dio (the band) I had enough tunes to make several CDs. The guy was awesome. If you don't know that for yourself, start with Black Sabbath: The Dio Years (2007) and Stand Up and Shout: The Dio Anthology (2003). The later has stuff from Rainbow, Sabbath and Elf on it also. Get back to me after you've digested those and we'll talk about The Pick of Destiny, passing the torch and Killing Dragons. R.I.P.R.J.D.

Other than that tragic news, I had a rainy but good weekend. I've done a bad job of posting (or even taking) pictures lately so I'll share a few to help explain the weekend. I got out to the park for some awesome midget wrestling and baseball on Friday night, then we went to Buzz-B-Q on Saturday and had some great bar-b-q and walked around a bit, then we just sort of got in the mood to make some food of our own and chill at the house. A few hours later we had a nice assortment of crawfish, corn on the cob, potatoes, jambalaya and cajun sausage.

And anybody who says there are no good canned beers now just doesn't know where to shop. There are a whole slew of canned craft brews now. I've got a fridge full of great stuff:

We made a dent on those beers after the food and watched some movies before the Strikeforce fights came on and it made for a really nice weekend to get rested up and ready for next weekend's Vegas adventures.
