Synopsis: A sixteen-year-old girl drowns while swimming in the local lake. When her body is recovered and a verdict of accidental death returned, her grieving family buries her. The family then experiences a series of strange and inexplicable events centered in and around their home. They turn to a psychic and set-up cameras around their home to see if they can catch anything, and are startled with the results.
This is almost as much a movie about grief as it is about the supernatural, and it works on both levels. It's done documentary style, borrowing from the same sort of formula Paranormal Activity used. It's unsettling and very sad, I would think especially so for anyone who has lost a child. It feels real and at times can be a little depressing.
But it's also a mystery of sorts. It turns out the girl led a secret, double life and as the clues unfold and the family discovers her secret past the movie turns into a supernatural mystery yet still remains a family drama and documentary.
It's well-made and I found it pretty captivating. There are some really creepy scenes that I thought worked very well and the tone of the movie is very well done by the director (props to Joel Anderson) and all the actors involved. Again, it all just feels very real, which is difficult to pull off. It's got some chills, some twists and a satisfactory finish. I'm very impressed with this subtle, low budget flick and recommend checking it out.
