Other than Buzz-B-Q, I really don't have much on the slate for the weekend besides baseball so HOPEFULLY I can finally make a triumphant return to the theater and get started on the big Summer film season, which is rolling along as Iron Man 2 is kicking butt with $152 mil in the U.S. already and $363 mil worldwide. Nice start! And here come 3 more, but I'd guess on the last one has much chance to rake in the mega-cash this weekend. Let's have a look!
Just Wright
The Plot: A physical therapist (Queen Latifah) falls for the basketball player (Common) she is helping recover from a career-threatening injury, though he's drawn to her best friend, who has her sights set on being an NBA trophy wife.
My Thoughts: Oh hell no. Not one thing about this remotely interests me.
Letters to Juliet
The Plot: A young woman (Amanda Seyfried) on vacation in Verona, Italy finds an unanswered "letter to Juliet" -- one of thousands of missives left at the fictional lover's Verona courtyard. Inspired by the volunteers who respond to the notes, she goes on an adventure to unite the author of letter (Vanessa Redgrave) with her beloved.
My Thoughts: What is this, Valentine's Day weekend? 2 sappy looking romantic comedies in the same weekend?
Robin Hood
The Plot: The story of an expert archer (Russell Crowe) who travels to the town of Nottingham toward the end of the 12th century, where the acts of a despotic sheriff (Matthew Macfadyen) and the presence of a beautiful widow (Cate Blanchett) inspire him to assemble a gang of mercenaries bent on raiding the upper class as a way to correct the sheriff's injustices.
My Thoughts: Sure, we've seen the tales of Robin Hood many, many times... but c'mon here... Russell Crowe and director Ridley Scott? Remember a little awesome movie called Gladiator? Add to it that the trailer looks awesome and I cannot wait to see this thing explode on the big screen. Sold!
