Big Mac vs Morals

Re: Mark McGwire... AKA one of my favorite all-time players. So he comes clean... big deal? Who didn't know or strongly suspect they knew? Who doesn't realize that era was filled with guys doing PEDs? It's done and the records can't be changed now. Asterisk them, deny them the hall of fame... whatever. A hall of fame without Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, A-Rod, Roger Clemens, Manny, Sammy Sosa, Raffy Palmeiro and Pete Rose isn't really a hall of fame is it? Anybody want to start booting guys out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, cause there just might be a few enhanced guys in there too.

Big Mac didn't do something that was even against the rules at the time, he did something to make himself and his team better. I drove to STL twice during that 70 HR season and saw him hit 1 of the 70 in person (#28 for the record) and I'm not putting an asterisk by my memories. We'll never know what pitchers he faced that were juicing or what other guys on the field robbing hits from him were juicing, so I dare say label it the "enhanced era" and accept it as a different time. He was one of the best of that time. Choose to ignore it if you wish, but don't start whining to me about the big man. If I could take a shot in my butt and make a shitload more money at work and improve my output I dare say my bosses and co-workers would be thrilled. Excuses for the Red Head? Not at all. I fully understand people hating on him and disliking him and the others they consider cheaters. I'm just not one of them. I'd pay money to see A-Rod tomorrow.

On to the new releases! My first CD of interest for 2010 tops the list of new junk in stores to spend money on. A classic old horror flick and another season of the greatest show in TV history are other highlights. See for yourself:

* AM Conspiracy ~ "AM Conspiracy" CD (frontman Jason "Gong" Jones is formerly of Drowning Pool)

* OK Go ~ "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky" CD

* Halloween II DVD (see blog here)

* The Hurt Locker DVD (highly touted war drama)

* The Simpsons Complete 20th Season DVD

* House on Sorority Row DVD (1983 cult classic horror/slasher film)

* Army of Two: The 40th Day (video game for PSP and PS3... the sequel to Army of Two... fight your way through the ravaged city districts of Shanghai, China in an attempt to uncover secret of the Fortieth Day.)
