Hillbilly Zombie Groundhogs
Yet another silly tradition falls today, Groundhog Day, and it's yet another based on Pagan activities. This time it's the Pagan festival of Imbolc, the seasonal turning point of the Celtic calendar, which is celebrated on February 2 and also involves weather prognostication. To me it means about as much as horoscopes or the bible. But hey, any good reason to party and let's face it, Punxsutawney Phil knows how to par-tay.
In better news, it should be zombie day as not only is Rob Zombie back and rockin' but the excellent movie Zombieland is out as well and I'll be picking up my blu-ray version and feasting on it tonight before Lost returns. Yes, I'm a Lostie. I want some answers in this final season dammit. What the hell are the numbers 4-8-15-16-23-42 all about? What is the smoke monster? Who is Jacob? Why do I have dreams about Kate? How is Hurley still fat after months on an island? What would my nickname be if Sawyer met me? All these and more I must know!
Sorry, got off track. Here's the release list for today:
* Zombieland DVD (see my review here)
* Rob Zombie ~ "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" CD (see more here)
* Priestess ~ "Prior to the Fire" CD
* Dommin ~ "Love is Gone" CD (see more here)
* House of the Devil DVD (horror)
* TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection: Sci-Fi Adventures (Them! / The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms / World Without End / Satellite in the Sky) DVD
That last one will look quite nice on my shelf along side the TCM collection featuring 2001 A Space Odyssey, Soylent Green, Forbidden Planet and The Time Machine they put out last year. Turner Classics is releasing better stuff for old movie lovers than anybody right now. They've got these 4 film sets for $20 for romance, comedies, sci-fi, horror, Hitchcock thrillers, musicals and several other genres. I love 'em.
