TS3 Finds and Passes Nemo

At some point a few weeks ago Toy Story 3 passed up Finding Nemo to become Pixar's biggest money maker to date. This company is just amazing to me with one success after another. After the excellent film Up (still my favorite Pixar film) didn't take the top spot last year I thought Nemo was pretty safe for awhile. In fact, after Ratatouille and Wall-E didn't even get close to challenging it in the last 3 years I thought Pixar might actually be losing steam. Never underestimate the power of Buzz and Woody I guess. It actually turns out that their last 2 releases are #1 and #3 on their chart. Keep in mind thought, tickets cost more now especially for 3D.

Check out the 11 films Pixar has released at theaters and how they've fared at the U.S. box office:

1. Toy Story 3 - $397,518,546 (2010)
2. Finding Nemo - $339,714,978 (2003)
3. Up - $293,004,164 (2009)
4. The Incredibles - $261,441,092 (2004)
5. Monsters, Inc. - $255,873,250 (2001)
6. Toy Story 2 - $245,852,179 (1999)
7. Cars - $244,082,982 (2006)
8. WALL-E - $223,808,164 (2008)
9. Ratatouille - $206,445,654 (2007)
10. Toy Story - $191,796,233 (1995)
11. A Bug's Life - $162,798,565 (1998)

That's a ridiculous total of $2,822,335,807 for 11 movies. 2.8 freaking BILLION dollars. For cartoons.

Their film AVERAGE $256,575,982 per picture. They don't miss. If you need further proof just wait for their next announced releases and I'm sure the point will be proved again and again and I'll even make a little prediction... Sully and Mike's return will knock Buzz and Woody out of the top spot. I said it.

Here's their tenative release schedule:

Cars 2 - 6/24/11
Brave - 6/15/12 (I think this was originally called The Bear and The Bow?)
Monsters Inc. 2 - 11/2/12
newt - TBD
Toy Story 4?

Mark the calendars.
